On the 16th stage an attack to the front riders by Joao Almeida and Geraint Thomas had the ebst of Primoz Roglic, 1st 2nd and 3rd respectively

Roglic lost 25 seconds and is now third in GC led by Thomas

In the back end, riders continue to retire and with the retirement of Davide Ballerini, Soudal Quickstep is left with two riders only. They came to dominate the giro and risk in not finishing it
